Most of the family personal today will be wondering how to get rid of bed bugs because it causes a serious irritation during sleeping hours. It is very important to note that getting rid of bed bugs is not an easy job, because first one has to know how to find the bed bugs and after clearing them one has to be very clear on how to prevent bed bugs from entering again. Bed bugs were a common threat worldwide during the mid of 20th century. But now it has taken hike again and there is an increased infestations. Before jumping on actual session let us know some facts about these insects.
Fact about bed bugs: These are nocturnal, small and wingless insect that has got a Latin name Cimex Lectularius L and belongs to Cimicidae family. When they are fully grown the size will be 4-5 mm long and will have an oval shaped body structure. They will feed on any warm blooded host including humans. The color of these insects can vary from rust brown to red brown and also called in different names like chinches, red coats and mahogany flats. When they are fully fed the color will be reddish. Habitats of bed bugs are furniture, mattress, picture frames, electric outlet plates, behind the baseboard, luggage bags and bed being the prominent spot. A female bed bug can lay eggs starting from 1 to 5 per day and 200 to 500 in its lifetime. Under normal temperature and adequate supply of food (blood) they will live up to 300 days.
1.) Pull down bed and look out for the dark spots at the bottom layer of the bed and also on the frame because bed bugs has got greater affinity for fabrics and wood compared to plastic or metal.
2.) Examine the dressers and nightstands thoroughly. Look out for cracks and also the corners.
3.) Check out the other furniture like chairs and sofas.
4.) If there is any other wooden equipment, check out in the corners and in the cracks.
5.) Pull out the mats and carpets and examine at the bottom surface.
1.) Make use of Rubbing Alcohol: Spray the rubbing alcohol on the spots where you will find the bed bugs population. This will kill them instantly but keep in mind that it will not stop them from creeping in again.
2.) All the affected bedding’s and garments should be washed: Try to gather all the fabrics which are known to be affected with bed bug and wash them using extreme hot water – Minimum temperature should be 120 degree Fahrenheit. This is because bed bugs cannot sustain such a high temperature.
3.) Vacuuming is very important: Even if you remove all the bed bugs, there will be presence of eggs which some times cannot be seen in the naked eye. So use a vacuum cleaner to remove all the eggs and then throw it way by covering it in a sealed plastic so that it cannot creep in again.
4.) Steam the items which cannot be washed: If the bugs are present in bed, you cannot wash it, so one can make use of steaming which will kill the bugs and also the eggs. Use a steamer and blow a high temperature steam in the furniture/wall cracks, wall corners, bottom surface of the bed etc… Packtite is the one time investment which can be used for clearing these bugs in the small items like books. 5.) Make use of Silica gel: Take Silica crystals and grind it to form a paste and apply it at the bottom surface of the bed and also in any other location where bug population is more. This gel will stick to bugs and will stop their mobility. This will make them to starve and die on spot on a longer duration.

1.) Be careful when you are purchasing second hand beds, bed covers and mattresses. There are chances of the bug infection. Check for the bug spots and eggs and then make a proper decision.
2.) Be careful when you are travelling because, there are chances that the luggage bags to get infected. So soon after your travelling, wash all the fabrics used and then use it at home.
